Vancouver shootings: 3 wounded in Yaletown, Science World
Shooting in Yaletown followed by shootout at Science World that left officer and suspect wounded
After a man was shot near a Starbucks store in Vancouver Tuesday, the suspect was chased to Science World where shots were exchanged with police officers, leaving the suspect with a bullet wound and an officer with injuries from broken glass.
Police said the shooting victim was a 52-year-old man. Several witnesses told CBC News that the victim was Paul Dragan, owner of the Reckless bike shop on Davie Street.
Const. Brian Montague would not confirm the man's identity but said he was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
Speaking at a news conference close to Science World, Montague said that several officers were close by when they received a call reporting shots fired at the corner of Davie Street and Marinaside Crescent in Yaletown.
When they arrived at the scene, they found the injured man.
Police chased a suspect on a bike along the seawall toward Science World, where two officers were in wait.
Vancouver man Brandon Gowing heard gun shots while walking in Yaletown and began recording the below footage, capturing the moment the suspect fled.

An exchange of gunfire behind the building led to the suspect being injured by a bullet, while a female officer suffered minor injuries when she was hit by flying glass when her car windows were shot out.
The suspect was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery and is believed to be in stable condition, Montague said.
The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has been brought in to investigate the police-related shooting.
Earlier reports that a woman was shot were incorrect, police said.
"The alleged shooter has been taken into custody and police believe that there are no suspects outstanding," said a statement from police.
Large areas of the city were locked down as police responded to the shooting and dozens of students inside Science World were made to lie on the floor after the shots were fired. They have since been allowed to leave the building.
