14-year-old Drew Muller was on his way to school when he heard the loud crash.

The crash occurred just metres away from Eugene Reimer Middle School. Nearby residents said traffic in the area can be particularly frantic at the beginning and end of the school day.

"There should be [a stop sign or a crosswalk]," said Kuldip Sandhu, adding that she's concerned for the safety of her kids.

"Traffic is very bad, in the morning and the afternoon... it's crazy at 8 o'clock in the morning."

The driver of the Toyota Yaris who struck the three pedestrians remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.
