Police in Abbotsford, B.C., are investigating after a man attempted to expose himself to a woman and then attacked her on Gladwin Road on Thursday night.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. PT when the 29-year-old woman was approached by a man while she was walking down the 2400 block of Gladwin Road.

The man propositioned the woman and, when she attempted to walk away, he continued to proposition her while attempting to expose himself.

Sgt. Ian MacDonald said that when the woman tried to call 911, the man attacked her.

"Unfortunately he saw what she was doing and threw her to the ground," said MacDonald.

"The victim was able to scramble to her feet and run across to a neighbouring apartment building where she was able to contact police."

The suspect fled the scene. The woman was shaken by the attack, but only sustained minor injuries, said police.

The man is described as in his 30s, five foot six to five foot eight in height, with medium-toned skin, a moustache and dark-coloured, medium length hair. He was last seen wearing grey track pants and a black coat.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators at 604-859-5225 or text 222973 (abbypd) or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
