11-year-old boy struck by CTrain as it arrives at Banff Trail Station

Calgary police are questioning a CTrain driver after a collision involving an 11-year-old pedestrian at a northwest station.

Calgary police are questioning a CTrain driver after a collision involving an 11-year-old boy at a northwest station on Thursday.

The child was struck by the train at about 8:15 a.m. at the Banff Trail Station, police said in a release.

It's believed the boy was struck while crossing in a marked crosswalk as the northbound CTrain entered the station while the pedestrian barriers had not lowered. 

The boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. 

The driver of the train was taken into custody as part of the investigation, police said. 

The Calgary Police Service's traffic unit is investigating the collision.
