Several women reported being hit on the buttocks by passing cyclist
Airdrie RCMP have charged a man with numerous Criminal Code offences after several incidents where a male on a bicycle was sexually assaulting females.
In a news release sent on Oct.16, RCMP said there had been reports of a young man on a black mountain bike riding up behind women and slapping them on their buttocks as he passed.
After the news release, more victims came forward, police said.
Then they started receiving reports of similar sexual offences but the culprit was on foot.
After months of investigation, Adam James Ferrier, 18, of Airdrie has been charged with 18 Criminal Code offences.
The charges include sexual assault, voyeurism, failure to comply with conditions, sexual interference, indecent act and committing an offence while masked.
Ferrier has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on Nov. 21 at 9:30 a.m.
The investigation was co-ordinated by the Airdrie general investigation section, Airdrie crime reduction unit, criminal analysts and Alberta Sheriffs, as well as members of the public.
