A Calgary police officer has been charged with assaulting a woman during the booking process in 2017.
The Calgary Police Service said the alleged incident happened on Dec. 13, 2017.
Const. Alex Dunn was booking a woman after arrest when "an incident occurred" between the two, and the woman was injured, according to a release issued Wednesday.
Police said the professional standards section investigated and forwarded the case to the Edmonton Crown Prosecutor's Office for review.
Dunn, a constable with CPS for 9½ years, has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
Police said Dunn is off duty with pay, pending further review.
