Masked man and woman rob Torrington Hotel at gunpoint

RCMP are searching for the man and woman who robbed the Torrington Hotel at gunpoint on Wednesday.

A man entered the Torrington Hotel bar Wednesday night and pointed a long-barrel gun at a staff member. (RCMP)

Police are searching for the man and woman who robbed the Torrington Hotel at gunpoint on Wednesday.

The pair pulled up to the hotel in the hamlet of Torrington, which is about 115 kilometres northeast of Calgary, at 9:30 p.m., RCMP said in a release.

The man entered the hotel bar and pointed a long-barrel gun at a staff member and ordered him not to move.

There were no other people in the bar at the time.

The female robber then entered the hotel and both went behind the counter and stole the till with cash in it. 

The pair then fled in an older white pickup truck — possibly a Ford F150 — heading west on Highway 27.

There were no injuries.

The man is described as being about five feet six inches with a larger build and wearing a red balaclava, black sweater, black pants, brown boots and a dark hat with a white emblem.

The woman is described as being about five feet tall with a thin build, wearing a striped backpack, dark pants, knee-high dark boots, dark grey jacket, a white balaclava and a black ballcap with a white symbol.
