Body found in river near Calgary Zoo

Emergency officials are securing an area around the Calgary Zoo after a worker there discovered a body in the river early Wednesday morning.

Officials are investigating after a worker at the Calgary Zoo spotted a body in the river early Wednesday morning.

The male body was discovered at about 6:30 a.m. MT and appeared to have been in the water for some time, police said.

The medical examiner is working to identify the man and determine the cause of death. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
