Brett Kissel is one of the hardest-working guys in country music. Also, one of the nicest.

You'll hear Brett Kissel charm the crowd at CBC Toronto, when he brings his band into the studio to play through his album, We Were That Song for CBC Music's First Play Live series, which takes place in front of an intimate crowd.

To see Brett Kissel in action on a much bigger stage, check out his performance below, from this year's Canadian Country Music Awards.

As well, Calgary-based jazz artists Deanne Matley and pianist Sheldon Zandboer have each put out excellent albums. You'll hear their original songs.
