Police say rifle was seen prior to shooting

Officers saw a rifle on the seat next to the driver and ordered him not to move.
Instead, the driver put the vehicle in reverse and smashed into a minivan before advancing forward.
Officers fired at the vehicle and it crashed into a natural gas line, rupturing it.
A man was taken into custody suffering minor injuries to his arm, the result of broken glass.
A 15-year-old girl who was also in the vehicle was taken into custody and released to her guardian.
The 23-year-old is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 29.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is now investigating the incident, as well as another police shooting on the weekend.

The man was charged Monday with aggravated assault, assault of a peace officer, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and breach of a probation order.
