A cycle club in downtown Calgary is now linked to 42 cases of COVID-19, the province confirmed Thursday.

Last week, an instructor with Ride Cycle Club Calgary — a business that was preparing to open — told the organization that they had tested positive for COVID-19.

At the time, Cristi Porta, the marketing manager with the organization, said the company immediately shut down all opening preparations upon discovery of the positive case. The cycle club had previously hosted a pre-opening class, with staff from both YYC Cycle studio and Kult, a boutique Calgary gym, in attendance.

YYC Cycle studio said last week it would cancel its upcoming classes in response and Kult also said it would temporarily suspend its classes.

AHS said it's working closely with the organization and with people who have confirmed cases to identify close contacts to facilitate testing. Anyone at risk is being contacted by AHS.
