A 39-year-old Calgary gym owner and taekwondo instructor faces luring and child pornography charges following an investigation by Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT), the agency said in a release Thursday.

ALERT said Bradley Hutchison, known in some online spaces as Dan Chambers, allegedly engaged in online conversations of a sexual nature with a 13-year-old.

Police believe the conversations occurred between 2017 and 2018.

"This individual was heavily involved in the martial arts community and responsible for teaching children and teens, including those with special needs," said Staff Sgt. Mark Auger of ALERT's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit.

Hutchison's biography was still visible on the gym's website Thursday morning.

Hutchison was arrested June 25, when his home and business were searched and several electronic devices seized.

He is facing charges that include child luring and the making, accessing and possession of child pornography. Additional charges may apply post-investigation.
