Calgary police arrest man after multiple stabbing incidents downtown
Victims' injuries ranged from minor to serious, but all were in stable condition
A man police believe stabbed at least three people in downtown Calgary early Monday afternoon has been taken into custody.
At around 12:45 p.m., Calgary police received multiple reports that a man with a knife had stabbed three people and assaulted another while trying to steal a purse.
The incidents happened in the 600 block of Fifth Avenue S.W. and the 400 block of Fourth Avenue S.W. and Fifth Avenue S.W.
The man was taken into custody at around 1:10 p.m. following a confrontation with officers, police said in a release.
Police said the the victims' injuries ranged from minor to serious, but all were in stable condition.
The Calgary Police Service said more details about motive, the nature of the attacks and charges will be released when they become available.
