Calgary police investigating suspicious death in East Village
Badly injured man found lying on sidewalk
Calgary police are investigating a suspicious death after a man was found injured in the East Village early Tuesday morning.
Officers were called to the 400 block of Sixth Avenue S.E. at about 1:20 a.m. where a man was found by passersby in medical distress on the sidewalk, police said in a release.
Despite lifesaving efforts from witnesses and first responders, the man was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.
Early evidence suggests the man had been injured in an altercation, police say.
An autopsy will be scheduled for later this week.
If the fatality is determined to be a homicide, it will be Calgary's 23rd homicide this year and the second in three days.
