Calgary Stampede unveils 2022 lineup at the iconic Coca-Cola Stage
The pop artist-focused venue returns after 2-year pandemic hiatus
Two years after the Calgary Stampede was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Calgarians will get a taste of life back to normal when the summer festival's Coca-Cola Stage returns.
Forty-eight acts will grace the stage for the 11 days of the Stampede, running from July 7 until July 17.
Stampede CEO Joel Cowley says it will feel like back to normal despite the ongoing pandemic as most of the festival takes place outdoors where COVID-19 risk is low.
"Our theme this year is Together Again, which is very fitting to bring the community back together for a celebration at Stampede Park," he told the Calgary Eyeopener on Thursday.
Relocated to the southwest end of Stampede Park, the Coca-Cola Stage had to be moved because of the extension of 17th Avenue into the park.
Headliners at the iconic stage include Milky Chance and Grammy Award nominees Carly Rae Jepsen and Kaskade, as well as Grammy Award Winner for best new artist in 2018, Alessia Cara, according to a release.
The festival also announced this week that the Stampede parade grand marshal will be film actor Kevin Costner.
