WestJet and Air Canada are canceling flights between Calgary and Houston due to Hurricane Harvey, expected to reach landfall early Saturday at or near Corpus Christi, Texas.

Westjet says the flights from Calgary are cancelled until Sunday. A decision will be made then on when flights will resume.

"We are monitoring the situation closely and will make a decision on Sunday's flights depending on the impact the storm is having on the ground," said a spokesperson.

Air Canada cancelled two flights to Houston on Friday and has cancelled three more on Saturday, according to the Calgary Airport's website.

Air Canada is warning on its website that flights to Texas may be impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

"Those customers wishing to make alternate travel arrangements can do so without penalty, space permitting, using our online rebooking tool," says the website.

Both carriers advise passengers to check their website before heading to the airport.

The threat of devastating flooding has led to mandatory evacuation orders for all seven coastal counties in Texas.
