Calgary police and the family of a teenage homicide victim are asking anyone who might have information about his death to get in touch with investigators.

Carter Spivak-Villeneuve, 16, was found dead at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Aug. 1 in the northeast community of Abbeydale.

Homicide investigators have been trying to collect video footage and other evidence from the area and are still trying to reach several residents who may have been away over the long weekend.

They are urging anyone in the neighbourhood who has dashcam or home-security footage and has not yet spoken with police to contact them immediately.

Specifically, they are looking for footage from the 300 block of Abergale Drive N.E. between midnight and 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 1

Police said in a news release they are also looking to talk to anyone with information about Spivak-Villeneuve, his associates or any discussion about his death, "whether on Snapchat, TikTok or other platforms."

"We are absolutely devastated by the loss of our son Carter," his family said in a written statement released by police.

"It has left an empty void in many hearts for family and friends. Carter was very caring, giving and loyal. He had a smile that would light up any dark room. He had ambitions that will never come to fruition because his life was cut so short."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
