Officers had executed a search warrant at the man's home, seizing a variety of computers and electronic devices, following a joint investigation by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT), the Calgary police and Chestermere RCMP.
The man has been charged with accessing and possessing child pornography, making child pornography, two counts of child luring, making sexually explicit material available and invitation to sexual touching.
The girl's parents contacted Calgary police after becoming aware of the relationship in May 2015.
The man was released from custody under conditions prohibiting him from possessing computers or accessing the internet.
He had a court date in Strathmore Tuesday.
