Finding a parking spot downtown just became a little easier as Calgary's City Hall Parkade opened after months of restoration work following June's floods.

All seven levels of the Civic Plaza Parkade at 322 Ninth Avenue S.E. filled up when floodwaters hit the city.

Crews drained about 75 million litres of water out of the structure after the floods — the equivalent of 25 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

Each level is now colour coded, and includes new ventilation systems and wider parking spots. The downtown parkade even includes a heater at the entrance to melt snow.
