CBC is launching a permanent bureau in Lethbridge and to celebrate we're hosting a two-day event in partnership with the Lethbridge Public Library on January 20 and 21.

We'll have live radio shows (with some behind-the-scenes magic), storytime for kids and meet and greets with our CBC hosts including Angela Knight, musical performances featuring local bands and singer songwriters, a comedy show, button making, a chance to pitch a story to CBC, an opportunity to read a news story to camera, the chance to learn about Japanese dance and much more. You'll also have the chance to get your hands on some exclusive CBC Lethbridge swag!

It's fun for the whole family and it's free. We'll even provide some food and drink while you hang out. Come for an hour or stay for the day. Check out the details below.
 

Friday, January 20

Live show of Alberta at Noon 

Where: Lethbridge Public Library (Main Branch)When: 12 - 1 p.m.

Be part of our live audience as Alberta at Noon with Judy Aldous goes live on location. This is our provincial call-in show. And as part of the studio audience, you'll have the chance to get your voice heard on the radio. You'll also see behind-the-scenes what it takes to get a radio show to air. Come chat with our host and producers after the show and enjoy cookies, coffee and tea.  

Live show of The Homestretch

Where: Lethbridge Public Library (Main Branch)When: 3 - 6 p.m.

Want some more radio excitement? Get a behind-the-scenes experience of how a radio show is produced and join us for The Homestretch with Chris dela Torre and Jenny Howe live on location. Come chat with our hosts and producers after the show and enjoy cookies, coffee and tea.

CBC Comedy Night

Where: Good Times Lethbridge Comedy ClubWhen: 8 p.m.

Get ready to laugh at this after dark comedy show highlighting some of Lethbridge's best comics. Enjoy performances by Faris Hytiaa, Spencer Streichert, Brittany Lyseng and a special guest appearance by our very own host of the Calgary Eyeopener Loren McGinnis. Enjoy pizza from Two Guys and A Pizza Place and enter to win raffle prizes including goodies from local businesses and exclusive CBC Lethbridge swag.

Discover all the different elements that make up CBC — our journalistic standards and practices, our history, CBC Listen and CBC Gem. While you're here, take a photo with Ceebee, meet and take photos with your favourite CBC hosts, make a button, pitch a story, record a station ID and host a newscast! Food and drink available all day. And of course exclusive CBC Lethbridge swag! 

CBC Kids | Children's Area 

Colour your favourite CBC Kids characters, play dress up and enjoy storytime with CBC personalities. 

Please note these storytime sessions will have ASL interpretation.

Cultural workshops | Eagles Nest Area

Immerse yourself in these cultural workshops hosted by the Lethbridge Public Library. 

  • 10 - 10:45 a.m. | Indigenous craft with Elder Evelyn Kelman
  • 11 - 11:45 a.m. | Japanese dance workshop with Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden

Build a comic | Eagles Nest Area

Join this drop-in comics jam and we will tell some Lethbridge stories!

Musical performances | Theatre Gallery 

Enjoy live performances by local musicians all afternoon. Hosted by Daybreak Alberta's Paul Karchut.
