Cows shot and butchered near Consort in eastern Alberta
Mounties are investigating after two cows were shot, skinned and butchered in a field in southeastern Alberta – and the thieves made off with choice cuts of meat.

Police in southeastern Alberta are investigating after someone butchered two cows in a field near the village of Monitor, near the Saskatchewan boundary.
Consort RCMP say the animals were shot and killed, then skinned and butchered on Sunday near Township Road 34-4, south east of Monitor.

The culprits then made off with choice cuts of meat, they said.
They say the hides and skeletons were left behind and were picked at by predators.
