Motorcycle crash closes part of Crowchild Trail in Calgary

Traffic was rerouted by police for a few hours in the northwest part of the city due to an accident involving a motorcycle on Thursday evening.

Traffic was rerouted by police for a few hours in the northwest part of the city because of an accident involving a motorcycle on Thursday evening.

Det. Emma Parker of the Calgary Police Service said a single-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle shut down the southbound lanes of Crowchild Trail at Memorial Drive N.W.

Traffic in the area was re-routed to Kensington Road N.W. and YYC Transportation tweeted that people should use an alternate route, or avoid the area if possible.  

Parker said one person was taken to hospital. 

The scene was cleared by just after midnight.
