Striking education support workers in Calgary's public and Catholic school divisions have ratified new deals that will bring them back to work in the coming days.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) said on Thursday that Local 520 members at the Calgary Catholic School Division voted 93 per cent to accept the new deal. Agreements with members at the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) and Black Gold School Division were also ratified Wednesday, CUPE says.

Return to work was scheduled for Thursday at Black Gold and Friday at the CBE, according to the union.

CCSD staff members are expected to return to work on Monday.

CUPE also said on Wednesday it has reached a tentative agreement with the Foothills School Division, south of Calgary, after weeks-long job action around Alberta.

Parkland School Division west of Edmonton and the Edmonton Public School District also accepted their tentative agreements, ending their strikes, CUPE said.

CUPE members at Edmonton Public School District voted 93 per cent in favour of accepting their settlement, while members at Parkland Division voted 97 per cent in favour, the union said.

Both groups will return to work tomorrow, now that agreements have been reached, CUPE says.

The union expects members at Foothills School Division to hold ratification votes Thursday and Friday. If the agreement is accepted, they will return to work on Monday, according to CUPE.

Currently, there are ratified agreements at the CBE, CCSD, Fort McMurray Catholic Schools, Fort McMurray Public Schools, Edmonton Public Schools, Black Gold School Division and Parkland School Division.
