Calgary police are investigating after a body was discovered in a suitcase in the Manchester Industrial area on Tuesday.

Police were called to an area outside an industrial complex in the 5500 block of First Street S.W. shortly after 3 p.m. on April 11 for reports that a body had been found, according to a news release.

The homicide unit is handling the investigation.

One person has been questioned in relation to the incident, police said, but their involvement is not known pending further investigation.

An autopsy on Wednesday identified the victim as John Sidney Taylor, 62.

Further tests must be conducted to determine the cause of death, the release said.

Police are investigating Taylor's death as suspicious.

"It is believed that Taylor died elsewhere and his body was transported to the location in which it was found," the release said.

The Calgary Police Service shared the following map of the area where the body was discovered.
