A cigar chewing, tough-talking commentator on the news, politics and entertainment, Ed the Sock was a popular television personality in the '90s.

"I saw them on Twitter and volunteered to help because, well, you don't see a lot of charities or anything else that involves themselves with socks," Ed the Sock told CBC News about Work Together For Fun (WTFF) Women.

Debbie Newman of the Drop-In Centre says more than 25 per cent of their residents report sore or hurting feet, and they are always looking for clean pairs of socks — both new or used.
