Calgary police are investigating a fatal stabbing in the downtown core early Thursday morning.

The victim was found at about 3 a.m. at the City Hall LRT station near Seventh Avenue and Macleod Trail, police said.

It's believed he was stabbed in Olympic Plaza and made his way to the CTrain platform.

He was taken to Foothills hospital where he died from his injuries.

With the help of witnesses and CCTV footage supplied by Calgary Transit, police say two suspects — a man and a woman — were located and taken into custody.

Northbound Macleod Trail was closed between Ninth Avenue and Seventh Avenue. CTrain service was not affected.
