French bulldog stolen from owner in altercation, say Cochrane RCMP
Owner says 8-week-old puppy valued at $4,000
RCMP are looking for a couple who said they were interested in buying a French bulldog puppy before robbing the owner and fleeing the scene — puppy in hand.
Officers responded to a home near Township Road 264 in Cochrane on Sunday around 8:30 p.m.
"The homeowner, a French bulldog breeder, had welcomed a couple into her home as they were interested in purchasing an eight-week-old puppy from the recent litter," said RCMP in a release.
"While inside the residence, the male and female picked up a puppy and ran away."
The owner was pushed to the ground attempting to stop the theft, according to RCMP.
Couple fled in blue sports car
The couple left in a blue sports car and was last seen heading east on Highway 1A. RCMP say the couple barely spoke English and stated they were from El-Salvador.
The man is described as being 5'10 or 5'11" with darker skin and short brown "well-styled" hair with a slender build. He was wearing a blue jacket with a white polo shirt underneath, blue jeans and white Converse-style sneakers.
The woman is described as being very slender and small in size with brown hair.
Anyone with information on the robbery and assault can contact RCMP at 403-851-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
"Please be aware of personal safety when selling goods on social media and take precautions when welcoming strangers into your residence," RCMP said.
