Man charged after alleged sexual assault of teen in Kensington

A man has been charged after a teen was followed from a downtown LRT station to the Kensington area and allegedly sexually assaulted.

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man after a 17-year-old reported she had been sexually assaulted earlier this month. 

On Sept. 2., at approximately 9 p.m., the female was approached by a man while exiting the Eighth Street CTrain station. They had a brief conversation and the teen started walking to the Kensington shopping district.

"It is believed that the man followed and engaged in another conversation with her while sitting on a bench in the 1200 block of Kensington Close N.W., and then sexually assaulted her," said police.

Javier Guadalupe Lozano Martinez, 32, of Calgary, is charged with one count of sexual assault.
