Calgary's newest rapid transit line started running Monday, offering commuters faster trips to several key locations in the city's southwest just in time for Christmas.

MAX Yellow travels from Woodbine to the downtown core with stops at Mount Royal University, Southland Leisure Centre, Glenmore Landing, Heritage Park, Rockyview General Hospital and Marda Loop.

The shelters are heated and come equipped with larger platforms, improved lighting and increased security.

MAX Yellow is the fourth rapid transit bus service and expands the service to all four quadrants of the city:

  • MAX Purple: East Hills – City Centre.
  • MAX Teal: Westbrook – Douglas Glen.
  • MAX Orange: Brentwood – Saddletowne.
  • MAX Yellow: City Centre - Woodpark.

The MAX buses get signal-light priority, queue jumps to bypass traffic and some have their own dedicated lanes.

MAX operates seven days a week with buses running every 12–18 minutes during peak hours (6:30–9 a.m. & 3–6 p.m.), and every 20–30 minutes during off-peak hours.

Pricing for MAX lines is the same as regular bus and CTrain fares.
