Woman killed, teen badly hurt as motorcycle hits pedestrian on Memorial Drive
Calgary police looking for witnesses to early morning collision
Calgary police are asking for witnesses to come forward after a motorcyclist hit and killed a pedestrian early Friday morning on Memorial Drive.
The motorcyclist was riding eastward in the 800 block of Memorial Drive N.E. at about 12:45 a.m. when he struck a woman who stepped on to the roadway, police said in a release.
The 35-year-old woman died at the scene.
The 17-year-old motorcyclist fell from his bike and slid, suffering serious, life-threatening injuries.
The location where the collision happened is not intended for pedestrian crossings, which was a factor, police said.
Another factor being looked at is speed. Drugs and alcohol were not involved.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
