None of the six people inside an Ogden home were hurt early Friday morning when a pickup truck smashed into their residence.

Six people  — including two young children  — escaped injury early Friday morning when a pickup truck slammed through the exterior of a southeast home and crashed into the basement.

One man, believed to be the driver of the vehicle, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. His condition was updated Friday afternoon to "stable."

Police believe the truck was stolen.

Officers arrived at the Odgen home, located at 20A Street and 76th Avenue S.E., around 1:30 a.m. after receiving calls about a truck striking a house.

Upon arrival, police found the vehicle wedged into the home's basement and significant structural damage to the building. Little more than the back end of the truck was visible from the street.

Police were relieved to learn that none of the four adults and two children inside at the time were harmed. First responders quickly removed the residents from the home.

The traffic section of the Calgary Police Service continues to investigate the crash and it took several hours for crews, including those from the Calgary Fire Department, to remove the vehicle from the basement of the home.
