Police looking for driver who ran over gas station attendant
Woman in hospital with life-threatening injuries
A gas station attendant is in critical condition after a hit-and-run involving a pick-up truck Sunday morning, say Calgary police.
The 35-year-old woman was struck near 16th Avenue and 17th Street N.W. at 11 a.m.
Sgt. Colin Foster said the woman worked at the Centex gas station and followed the truck into the nearby Home Depot parking lot after the driver didn't pay for gas.
"It appears then that the gas station attendant somehow managed to get onto the hood of the vehicle as the vehicle started to drive away," Foster said.
"During the course of that dynamic, the pedestrian now fell off the vehicle and the vehicle drove over her before fleeing from the scene."
The woman was taken to Foothills Hospital in serious, possibly life-threatening condition. She sustained multiple traumatic injuries. EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux said she may have head injuries.
Police are looking for a brown Ford Super Duty truck with Alberta licence plate EUX 378. They say the vehicle was stolen.
