Airdrie RCMP have identified a man who was found dead near the Willowbrook neighbourhood last week as 56-year-old Darrin Gehlen.

Police say that on Jan. 26, officers received a report at 8:38 a.m. that there was an unresponsive man found along the Nose Creek pathway in Airdrie, Alta. Upon investigation, it was confirmed the man was dead.

The RCMP major crimes unit has turned over the investigation to the general investigation section. However, police say they still consider the death to be suspicious.

An autopsy was done on Jan. 27 at the Calgary office of the chief medical examiner. However, results are still pending.
