Truck delivers significant damage to Red Deer pizza shop

RCMP said the truck reversed across the parking lot at West Park Shopping Centre and crashed into the front of Papa Baldy's Pizza around 9:08 p.m. Thursday.

UPDATE ON FEB. 5: RCMP say the driver of the truck has turned himself in and faces one charge of failing to remain at the scene of an accident in which a person was injured. Police believe the crash was unintentional.


The driver of a pickup truck delivered a whole lot of damage to a pizza shop in Red Deer on Thursday. 

RCMP said the truck reversed across the parking lot at West Park Shopping Centre and crashed into the front of Papa Baldy's Pizza around 9:08 p.m.

Three people were in or near the restaurant at the time and a woman who works at Papa Baldy's suffered minor injuries. 

According to RCMP, the damage to the restaurant was extensive. 

Mounties are looking for the vehicle and its driver.

'Appears to be intentional'

The truck responsible for the damage is described as a black Dodge Ram that was loaded with concrete in the rear box. It suffered damage to its rear end.

"While preliminary investigation indicates that this occurrence appears to be intentional, we can't speculate at this time" said Staff Sgt. Jeff McBeth in a news release.  

"All efforts are being made to solve this crime and we are looking for public tips."
