Atom Egoyan presents new film at CIFF

Atom Egoyan hopes Calgarians get a lasting impression from his new movie Remember, a dark thriller getting mixed reviews since its premiere in Toronto.

In an interview on the Homestretch, the famous Canadian director told host Doug Dirks that critics don't really matter anymore. 

"My last movie, The Captive, had uniformly terrible reviews and it did better then any films I've ever released in this country," he said pointing to sucessful advertising through word of mouth.

Canadian director Atom Egoyan is screening his latest film, "Remember," at the Calgary International Film Festival. He spoke with Doug Dirks about working with Christopher Plummer and Martin Landau.

The film stars two legendary actors: Christopher Plummer as Zev and Martin Landau as Max.  

Zev suffers from dementia, and Max guides him to fulfill a promise he made many years ago to avenge the death of his family while he loses his memory

The quest brings him to many small villages in the U.S. and Canada.

The film premiers at the Calgary International Film Festival Tuesday, with Egoyan in attendance at the Globe Cinema at 7:30 p.m. MT. There's an encore presentation at Eau Claire on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m.
