More than 1,700 bikers cycled 200 kilometres through southern Alberta this weekend to raise money for cancer.

The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer has raised $46.2 million over the last six years, says Daryl Silzer with the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

This year, the race brought in $7.9 million.

“Without our riders, without our supporters, we wouldn’t be able to make the investments in cancer research that help benefit cancer patients right here in Alberta,” Silzer said.

The money raised will go towards supporting patients and families at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, the Cross Cancer Institute and 15 other centres across the province.
