2 men sent to hospital in critical condition after northeast Calgary shooting

Calgary police are investigating a shooting that happened early Friday morning in the northeast community of Taradale.

Calgary police are investigating a shooting that happened early Friday morning in the northeast community of Taradale.

Police said they were called to the 100 block of Tarawood Grove N.E. at around 2:30 a.m., in response to reports of two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Both men were struck while sitting in a vehicle on the street, according to police. They were taken to hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Investigators believe the suspects fled the scene in a dark, newer-model pickup truck.

Police said no one was in custody on Friday morning, but officers believe the shooting was targeted and said there is no active risk to the public.

Investigators remain at the scene, searching for witnesses and surveillance camera footage.
