Snow lightly falling in mountains west of Calgary
Rainfall warnings in effect for many areas in central Alberta
Just like clockwork, there is snow falling high up in the mountains west of Calgary.
It just so happens to be one day after Alberta saw its first snowfall last year.
There have been several rainfall warnings issued for areas in central Alberta, but some of the higher elevations in the Rockies are seeing a bit of the white stuff.
That has the snow-lovers at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden, B.C., pretty excited.
Here we go. First snow of the year already! <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/ThisHorseRules?src=hash">#ThisHorseRules</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/WinterIsComing?src=hash">#WinterIsComing</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/HelloBC">@HelloBC</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/calgaryherald">@calgaryherald</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/CBCCalgary">@CBCCalgary</a> <a href="https://t.co/vkSqqCGuD5">pic.twitter.com/vkSqqCGuD5</a>

A quick look at the webcams at Sunshine Village also show a light snowfall is hitting high up in the mountains near Banff, Alta. The resort says this is its first snowfall this year in August.
Rainy summer
The moisture is nothing new for those in the Calgary area this summer.
July was a "rip-roaring kind of turbulent month" in terms of thunderstorms, of which the region saw 19 in July, said Environment Canada's Dave Phillips.
He has been on the job for five decades, but said the 2016 weather season isn't likely to be one that Albertans and others on the Prairie will look back on fondly.
But if the Farmer's Almanac is correct, Alberta could be facing a chilly and snowy winter. It predicts that it will be cool and dry this fall, but higher-than-normal precipitation will hit during winter.
Environment Canada also expects it to be wetter than usual this winter, but it could also be warmer.
Let's talk about the weather
The news of today's light snowfall is getting mixed reactions, as snow tends to do every year.
