Up to 20 cm of snow for parts of southern Alberta, Environment Canada warns
Communities from Nordegg to Waterton can expect to get walloped
A narrow corridor reaching from Clearwater County through southern Alberta to the American border could see up to 20 centimetres of snow Friday afternoon, according to a snowfall warning from Environment Canada.
Here's the latest Alberta weather.
"The snow will intensify late in the afternoon and become heavy at times tonight," the agency said an advisory issued Friday morning.
"Snowfall will start to abate from north to south Saturday morning, with total accumulations of 10 to 20 cm expected."
Travel in the affected areas could be difficult due to reduced visibility, the agency warned.
As of about 8 a.m. MT, affected communities included Canmore, Cardston, Claresholm, Crowsnest Pass, Fort Macleod, High River, Nordegg, Okotoks, Pincher Creek and Waterton among others.
