Startling admission from Calgary mother on trial
Mom charged with attempted murder admits hearing baby cry
A Calgary mother charged with killing two babies admitted to police she heard her third infant cry before she put him in a dumpster in 2010.
Meredith Borowiec is facing two counts of second-degree murder for the deaths of two babies who prosecutors say were born in 2008 and 2009, although their bodies have never been found.
Prosecutors are trying to link the incident in 2010 to the two previous births.
In an earlier police interview shown in court, Borowiec told police she thought the baby was dead when she put him in a garbage bag.
Today the court heard Borowiec tell an investigator during another interview that she heard the infant cry before placing him in the dumpster in 2010.
Borowiec is scheduled to go on trial later this year on a charge of attempted murder for the 2010 incident.
The baby boy from that incident was rescued and given up for adoption.
