Steve Dongworth will be Calgary's new fire chief following a North America-wide search.
Steve Dongworth will be Calgary's new fire chief following a North America-wide search.
He has been with the department since 1992, but started his career in the United Kingdom in 1976.
"Dongworth brings a wealth of skill and experience to this role, having worked in municipal fire and emergency services for more than 35 years," said the city in a release.
He takes over from interim fire chief Ken Uzeloc on Jan. 1.
“I’m pleased Mr. Dongworth will be leading the Calgary Fire Department as our new fire chief,” said Mayor Naheed Nenshi in a release.
“He has a track record of collaborative leadership and community partnership that will serve Calgarians well.”
