Police say a teen has died after he was hit by an SUV in Calgary last week while riding his skateboard.

Officers were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at Hunterview Drive and Hunterbrook Road on Wednesday.

They say a 79-year-old woman had been driving south on Hunterview Drive N.W. in her 2011 Buick Enclave toward the intersection as the 17-year-old boy approached on Hunterbrook at about 6:15 p.m.

He was hit by the Buick and suffered serious, life-threatening injuries. The woman was not hurt.

The teenager was taken to hospital but police say he has since died.

Police aren't considering speed, drugs or alcohol to be factors in the Huntington Hills collision.
