Teen takes shot at minor hockey association

A minor hockey reporter predicts a lawsuit against the St. Albert Minor Hockey Association could have huge ramifications across Canada.

A minor hockey reporter predicts a lawsuit against the St. Albert Minor Hockey Association could have huge ramifications across Canada.

Lois Kalchman has covered minor hockey for the Toronto Star for close to 30 years. She says this may be the first lawsuit of its kind.

Rhen Raymond and his parents are alleging the association unfairly denied him the opportunity to try out for a top team, even though he was ranked highly at an evaluation camp.

Kalchman says if Raymond's case goes to court and a judge rules in his favour, it will open a pandora's box across Canada.

"I can't even begin to describe the ramifications that could take effect."
