2 nabbed after stolen car went off highway into ditch
Five suspects who took off in two cars are all in custody after a rural homeowner near Turner Valley interrupted a break and enter last week, RCMP say.
Thieves had broken several windows of the garage and house and were stealing property when the homeowner interrupted them on Feb. 7 at about 3 p.m.
RCMP caught two suspects after their car — later determined to be stolen from Calgary — went in a ditch on Highway 541 and they tried to get away on foot.
Two more suspects were arrested near Cataract Creek in Kananaskis Country with help from the Calgary police HAWCS helicopter and the RCMP K-9 unit.
A fifth suspect was arrested by Okotoks RCMP on Feb. 8.
Two women and three men face a total of 44 criminal charges, including breaking and entering at a residence, disguise with intent, possession of stolen property, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of methamphetamine.
