Low pressure system forming over B.C. bringing snow to western Alberta this week
Snow is falling in the Rocky Mountains today, and it doesn't plan to stop there.
A low pressure system is expected to bring heavy snowfall to parts of western Alberta this week, according to Environment Canada.
Snow is likely to hit Monday night and continue into Wednesday.
"Current indications are that the heaviest snow will fall from Nordegg to Pincher Creek. Areas east of this line may see heavy snowfall up to 10 cm," the agency said.
Snowfall warnings have been issued for the areas of Banff and Jasper national parks, Kananaskis, Canmore and Nordegg.
"Current indications are that the heaviest snow will fall from the Icefields parkway south to Kananaskis, and in the Nordegg region," the agency said.
Those areas are likely to see 10 centimetres of snow Monday in the higher terrain. Fifteen to 30 centimetres of snow is expected to fall by the time the snow lets up late Tuesday.
Special weather statements are currently in place for:
