BBQ on the Bow, Calgary Highland Games, Pride parade and much more this weekend in Calgary
Labour Day weekend is just around the corner, and it's time to set aside the troubles of the work week and start planning how you're going to take advantage of that extra day off.
The Homestretch's Susan Holzman has rounded up some of the must-see and must-do events on offer.
1. Calgary Pride parade
The Calgary Pride parade hits the streets this weekend, with writer, musician and filmmaker Rae Spoon as the parade marshal.
Representatives from more than 125 groups, corporations, politicians and churches will march through the heart of downtown and celebrate the city's vibrant diversity.

2. BBQ on the Bow
The 24th annual event has grown so big, they've had to find a new location for this year.
The free family festival includes live music, and some of the best barbecue pitmasters from across North America. Learn how to prep ribs and trim a brisket from these experts.

3. Calgary Highland Games
The traditional Celtic games are back in the city, marking a tradition that dates back to 1913.
Expect Scottish dancing, drumming, bagpiping and heavy lifting as athletes compete in the caber toss and hammer throw events.

4. X fest
The two-day music festival is taking over Fort Calgary this weekend, and it's bringing an incredible lineup with it.
The Arkells, 21 pilots, Vance Joy, and the Lumineers are some of the headliners.
