Advance polling stations opened at noon and will close at 8 p.m. Monday night.

Record numbers of Canadians have already turned out to vote in the federal election.

Doris Friednreich was among a large group of people who lined up Monday morning before the polls even opened at the Montgomery Community Association in the riding of Calgary Confederation.

"I have a job on Monday (next week) and I thought I'd get it out of the way, so it's done, because it's important for me to vote," she said. "It's a big decision this year and I think we have a lot riding on who is going to be our prime minister."

Evan Hagen also cast a ballot at the same advance polling station Monday.

"I thought I might be out of town on voting day and I was free today so I just did it," he said.

"I always vote but I felt like it was probably more important in this election, especially in this riding," he added. "I hear it's going to be very close."

If you want to cast your ballot in advance, too, you can find information on your riding through our interactive map and your precise polling location by entering your postal code at the Elections Canada website.

2.4 million advance votes so far

About 767,000 voters cast ballots across the country on Sunday, according to Elections Canada, in addition to 780,000 on Saturday and 850,000 on Friday, the first day the advanced polls were open.

That's a total of about 2.4 million advance votes in 2015, up 15 per cent from about 2.08 million in the first three days of advance voting in the 2011 federal election.

There were just three advance voting days in 2011. This year there are four days to cast ballots in advance.

Monday's vote totals won't be available until Tuesday.

General voting day is Monday, Oct. 19.
