Evacuation order issued for some residents in Saddle Hills County

An evacuation order has been issued for some residents in northwestern Alberta due to an out-of-control wildfire in the area.

An evacuation order has been issued for some residents in northwestern Alberta due to an out-of-control wildfire in the area.

Saddle Hills County issued an evacuation order Monday night for residents near the community of Blueberry Mountain. An emergency alert was issued shortly before 7 p.m. 

The order is in place for everyone between Range Road 95 and Highway 725, and Township Road 794 and Township Road 810, including Moonshine Lake Provincial Park, in the Blueberry Mountain Area.

The alert notes an evacuation centre has been set up at the Blueberry Mountain Hall, located at the Highway 680 and Range Road 82.

Other residents in northwestern Alberta are currently under a mandatory evacuation order, while several other communities have residents being told to prepare to evacuate on short notice.
