Heavy rain flooded Edmonton streets
Heavy rainfall in Edmonton made driving hazardous in some areas of the city on Monday as crews were kept busy replacing manhole covers and clearing catch basins.
A heavy rainfall warning was issued for the City of Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park this morning as heavy rainfall pushed into the region.
The warning ended just before 2 p.m.
Between 15 and 30 millimetres of rain had fallen by late morning, but Environment Canada predicted as much as 50 millimetres could fall before the band of rain pivoted around the city.
On this date last year, Edmonton was hit with 54.5 millimetres of rain, CBC meteorologist Cory Edel reported.
The city has recorded 41 millimetres of rain this July, but will be much closer to the monthly average of 91.7 millimetres.
