"Quelle idée stupide."

In three words, Edmonton MP Laurie Hawn blasted Canada's Official Languages Commissioner Graham Fraser for a ruling that will reportedly suggest Canadian cabinet ministers tweet in both official languages.

In case you didn't get that, Hawn repeated it — this time in English — to CBC's Mark Connolly Friday morning, "I think this idea is stupid."

Fraser is expected to rule that ministerial Twitter accounts should be treated the same as any other official government communications, Canadian Press reported this week.

"Ridiculous," Hawn said. "Twitter and Facebook are not official communications of the Government of Canada.

"I tweet and facebook and I’m not speaking for the government, I’m speaking for me."

"People need to step back and giver their head a shake."
